Tokyo, Japan – YB Minister Economic Affairs Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali witnessed the signing of an MoU between Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) and its Japanese counterpart, Acrosx Japan Incorporated, for purposes of developing Muslim-Friendly Standards. This collaboration accents HDC’s mandate to onboard Malaysian businesses onto the global Halal economy, through its proprietary services and deep industry experience.

This initiative aligns to Malaysia’s Shared Prosperity Vision 2030, leveraging on Malaysia as a gateway to the Southeast Asian Halal markets, sized at an estimated 900 billion USD. As one of Malaysia’s 15 Key Economic Growth Areas, this bilateral approach is expected to significantly impact Malaysian Halal exports to Japan, which currently amount to an estimated RM2.5 billion.
