HYT teams up with HDC to support Malaysia’s halal sector

KUALA LUMPUR: HYT Cross Border Sdn Bhd has partnered with Halal Development Corporation Bhd (HDC) to support the development of the halal sector.

HDC will be enhancing its cross-border offerings and support to Malaysian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Both parties will supplement the export awareness programmes that it already has in place and further expand its export readiness capabilities to ensure Malaysian MSMEs in the halal sector are ready to connect and engage with overseas target markets.

“As demand for halal goods continue to grow rapidly, there are also many requests for halal food and produce. Malaysia, as a driving force behind halal food productions, can help meet these market needs,” HDC said.

In collaborating with HYT, new channels of engagement and sales can be established in China and Thailand for Malaysian Halal MSMEs.

“More importantly, HDC will be able to help these businesses understand how they can expand their reach into these new marketplaces,” said HDC chief executive officer Hairol Ariffein Sahari.

He added that the partnership will also enable the company to explore new distribution methods, such as business-to-business (wholesale) or business-to-business-to-consumer (supply chain or small volume trading).

“Working closely with HYT will boost HDC offerings and be at better position as it offers a platform that can positively impact the halal sector,” Hairol said.

Through the partnership, HDC will expand its overseas reach for the Halal Integrated Platform’s (HIP) more than 12,000 onboard members, specifically on China e-commerce platforms.

This will link Malaysia MSMEs in the Halal space with new market opportunities and strategic partners and provide various support functions that amplify the export awareness and readiness functions of HDC.

The partnership spans for two years and both companies aim to mutually support and enhance the growth of the Halal sector.

HYT founder and managing director Datuk Danny Tan said it is focused on providing maximum support to Malaysian MSMEs who are keen to start their cross-border journey.

“From our inception, the goal has always been to help open new channels for local players to explore. We started with China and had also expanded into Thailand and Singapore.”

HYT started a Malaysia Halal Pavilion e-store with major e-commerce players – JD.com, TikTok, and Shopee, and kicked off the Alibaba Dream Trip that features a specially curated programme for Halal businesses.

It also launched the first Malaysia Pavilion offline-to-online concept mall at Fly 3 @ Aviation City, which is right next to Sanya Phoenix International Airport in the Hainan Prefecture.
