KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) — The Halal Development Corporation (HDC) brought
Ramadan cheers to the orphans of Rumah Bakti Nur Syaheera Cheras by donating Ramadan aid,
including electric items, a sewing machine and cash worth a total of RM20,000.
HDC chief executive officer Hairol Ariffein Sahari said besides helping the children from a
financial aspect, the annual social corporate responsibility programme is also an initiative to
develop their talents.
“Insya-Allah we will continue with this programme, as it is related to talent development,
upskilling and reskilling youth to become experts in the halal industry.
“We will monitor their development and if we spot those with potential, we will bring them
into our talent development programme which we have been implementing all this while,” he said
after presenting the donation here today.
Other donated items include personal hygiene products and school equipment.
HDC also implemented a halal awareness session for the children to provide information
and exposure about the halal concept as a lifestyle and career opportunity in the industry.
In addition, he said the company had also trained more than 60,000 halal skilled personnel
working for companies with halal certification both domestic and foreign, since HDC was
established.
Besides developing talent and improving the capabilities of university and vocational
college graduates, HDC also trained youth through similar programmes, he added.
