“The Malaysian Reserve” on Ahmeti’s visit to Kuala Lumpur – discussions for cooperation in the “halal industry” as well

Kosovo’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Kreshnik Ahmeti, is conducting a two-day working visit to Malaysia starting on Thursday, with the aim of deepening bilateral ties and exploring new areas of cooperation.

In a statement on Thursday, the Malaysian Foreign Ministry said that the visit is a continuation of the official visit of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani Sadriu to Malaysia in early May this year.

Ahmeti is expected to meet with Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin, who will also host a luncheon in his honor.

“Both sides are expected to hold discussions on trade and investment, Islamic finance, the halal industry and tourism,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement, according to The Malaysian Reserve.

The two deputy ministers will also exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest, it further states.

During the visit, Ahmeti is also expected to hold discussions with the Halal Development Corporation (HDC) to explore possible collaborations in the halal sector, Malaysian media reports.

In 2024, total bilateral trade between Malaysia and Kosovo reached 28.55 million, including 25.92 million in exports from Malaysia and 2.63 million in imports from Kosovo.

Major exports from Malaysia include palm oil, electrical and electronic products, and manufactured goods, while imports from Kosovo consist mainly of raw materials and semi-precious stones.
