KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) – Halal Development Corporation Bhd (HDC) has appointed Hanisofian Alias as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 October 2026, following his tenure as Interim CEO since January this year.
In a statement today, HDC said Hanisofian previously served as the organisation’s Chief Industry Development Officer, where he was responsible for industry governance, industry and market development, sector competitiveness, knowledge management, and international cooperation.
With extensive experience in halal industry development and private sector management, Hanisofian has been with HDC since 2008. Throughout his tenure, he has played a significant role in advancing Malaysia’s halal ecosystem and strengthening the organisation’s industry development and international cooperation initiatives.
Prior to joining HDC, he spent 13 years with a multinational corporation, where he gained extensive experience in new product development, manufacturing operations, supplier quality management, and innovative project management. His career included leading initiatives focused on quality enhancement, productivity improvement, and cost optimisation. Hanisofian holds a Master’s degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronics from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
According to HDC, his appointment as CEO provides continuity in the organisation’s efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s halal ecosystem and support the implementation of the Halal Industry Master Plan 2030 (HIMP 2030). His leadership is expected to further enhance industry competitiveness, particularly among Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), while expanding market access, encouraging investment, and strengthening international cooperation.
HDC also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its role under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) in developing an integrated and competitive halal ecosystem. The agency remains focused on supporting Malaysian halal industry players in expanding their presence in both domestic and international markets.
